And then they were gone. It is a 40 minute walk to their village. Although we tried to walk there ourselves, we were met with discouragement. The lodge 'allows' the Maasai to sell on the fringes, a token taste of culture for the tourists. But we are not encouraged to befriend them (leave the lodge area), nor did they want us offering our vehicle for transport. It is a palpable resentment between the local cultures. We'll likely never see them again. Narushi is packing a bag of clothes that I didn't need to bring home. They'll probably like the old Steve Madden bag more than the clothes.
